Located on the 3rd floor of Walker Hall on the campus of Appalachian State University on the corner of Rivers Street and Bodenheimer Drive.
Please note this is a Day Camp. On Monday, July 7th, 2008, parents and participants should arrive between 4:30 and 5:30 pm to register, and all stay for a meeting at 5:30 to answer questions and discuss procedures. Students check in every evening by 6:00 pm and check out at 9:00 pm promptly all four nights. For any student not checked in by 6:05, a follow-up call will be made to parents.
The cost of the camp is $120 per student which includes instruction for 12 hours, limited accident illness insurance, certificates, awards, trophies, and snacks. Enrollment is guaranteed if application and full payment are received before June 3. Act now. Space is limited to 120 campers. Out of town families may take advantage of a special rate $49.99 + tax at Super 8 (828-264-4133) for the nights of Math Camp Monday- Thursday. Ten Math Camp participants will be invited to participate in an Extended Math Camp from 1:00-5:00
pm during the week of Math Camp. If you are thinking of teaching math as your career, have an
aptitude for math, and a willingness to follow through with the extended linked activities in the following
year, then this camp is for you! There is no extra charge for students selected to attend the Extended Math Camp.

Appalachian State University Math Camp is directed by Dr. Anita Narvarte Kitchens, author of the book, Defeating Math Anxiety. Dr. Kitchens was selected as the Outstanding Teacher in the College of Arts and Sciences at Appalachian State University in 1997. She has taught in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State University for 31 years, and has directed the Developmental Math Program for 27 years. Her team of instructors includes Math Education faculty from the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Appalachian State. The coaches at Math Camp are selected primarily from university students at Appalachian.
